Many of our
rescue dogs come from shelters or owners who cannot give them the
medical care they need. Often the dogs we accept have emergency medical
problems such as broken legs, eye injuries, difficult pregnancy,
Parvovirus, severe neglect, or need other urgent care. Shelters often
contact us to take otherwise healthy dogs, but have temperament and
training issues, including shyness, housebreaking problems, and fear of
strangers.
We also accept strays and owner released dogs, if space is available in
our foster care system. All of our dogs are either spayed or neutered,
given basic preventative vaccinations, including rabies. We test for
heartworm and keep them on preventative and microchip our rescues. We
also provide dental care for older dogs that have serious oral problems.
Enchantment Chihuahua Rescue is committed to finding appropriate homes
for every dog we accept. That requires that we take applications from
interested families. We ask for details about the family, the home, past
pets, pet owner experience, and expectations of a new pet. We also
require personal references (other than family members) and a veterinary
reference. Though the process may seem intrusive, it is our primary
concern to match each of our dogs with a suitable home and your answers
will help us achieve that goal.
Our dogs are
cared for in foster homes, we do not have a kennel facility that you can
visit. Foster families provide loving care to socialize, housetrain and
rehabilitate injured dogs in their homes.

adoption process page for more information about our adoption process
